In a race at the Jerez circuit on Sunday (05/03/2015), Rossi touched the finish line in third position. Movistar rider Yamaha was also on the podium along with Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez, who respectively finished first and second.
For Rossi, it was the 200th time he climbed the podium in his career. He became the first rider in the 67 year history of grand prix racing to reach that amount.
Results in Jerez makes Rossi still leads the rider standings. He has collected 82 points in four series this season, winning 15 points over Andrea Dovizioso in second place and 20 points over Lorenzo, who sits in third position.
"It is another podium. I have to widen the distance with Dovizioso. But, after this weekend, apparently Jorge also become a competitor in the race for the title," Rossi said as quoted Crash.
"He (Lorenzo) only trailed by 20 points, but the competition is still long. We did not have to think about the points. We just have to think of the motor, trying to competitive every weekend," he added.
If every podium Rossi get a trophy, then you can imagine how many trophies owned Rossi until now. The Italian rider was until it took more than a place to store them.
"Some in my home, some at my mother's house, some along Graziano. There are everywhere!" exclaimed Rossi.
